Muscatine, Iowa

In October 2019, the City of Muscatine won the Iowa Finance Authority’s “It’s in the Water” contest, earning the city a custom water tower design. Muscatine native artist, Laura Palmer, designed what would soon become the tank’s collage, using resident-voted images that relate to the city. The images chosen include the city’s bridge, watermelons, pearl buttons, a steamboat and the “Pearl of the Mississippi” logo. Completed by long-time water tank applicators, the logo was painted on the elevated tank using Tnemec’s fluoropolymer finish, HydroFlon, for long-term color and gloss retention.
