Founded as Lippmann Engineering Works in 1923, Lippmann-Milwaukee, Inc. has a rich tradition of designing and manufacturing reliable crushing equipment. Lippman offers aggregate producers and recycle crushing operators a full line of superior jaw crushers, innovative impact crushing plants and complete, two stage jaw/impactor crushing systems and auxiliary equipment.
To protect the made to order portable steel machinery, Lippmann chose to utilize paint from two different manufacturers after having been assured there would be no adhesion problems. However, after painted units had been delivered to job sites, occurrences of delamination and rusting were noticed. Tired of having to pay to either refinish or touch up the paint, Lippmann consulted Tnemec for a solution to its problem.
After determining Lippmann’s requirements – single-component materials, water-based technology, no solvents, rust inhibiting, quick drying, adhesion to non-prepped steel – Tnemec coating consultant Cory Erickson recommended a coating system that would meet their needs: Series 115 Uni-Bond DF and Series 1028 Enduratone.
Following surface preparation in accordance with SSPC-SP6/NACE No. 3, a prime coat of Series 115 Uni-Bond DF, a self-crosslinking hydrophobic acrylic, was spray applied. Series 115 is a waterborne, rust-inhibitive coating with a quick recoat window. Next, a topcoat of Series 1028 Enduratone, a High Dispersion Pure acrylic polymer, was spray applied to complete the coating system. A water-based, low VOC coating, Series 1028 is mildew resistant and exhibits very good gloss and color stability.
After several months of successful applications, Lippmann has standardized its specifications to include Series 115 and 1028 on all portable units.
