Hamilton, Ontario Water Tank

The eight-story-tall globe in Hamilton, Ont., received more than 6,500 votes during the online polling period, and it’s easy to see why. The methane sphere was originally built back in 1972, but was recoated last year to resemble the Earth, complete with a large dot where Hamilton itself is located in the world. Although not technically a water storage tank, the methane tank is a common component of wastewater treatment plants and was coated using Tnemec’s high-performance fluoropolymer coating, Series V700 Low VOC HydroFlon, for long-lasting protection and aesthetic appeal.
