Fox Creek Veterinary Hospital

Dr. Robson, owner of Fox Creek Veterinary Hospital in Wildwood, Missouri, can certainly attest to the quality of the Tnemec brand. When designing his veterinary hospital in 2005, Tnemec coatings were specified for the facility–with the exception of a 500-square-foot area that welcomed arriving horses. Less than a year later, the coating system on that particular flooring area had begun to peel. Dr. Robson wasted no time and made plans for a Tnemec flooring system to be installed.

“The coating system just wasn’t holding up in that rough traffic area,” recalled Tnemec coating consultant Mike Cerutti. “On the other hand, Dr. Robson just couldn’t believe how well the Tnemec products were performing throughout the facility. That made his decision easier.”

A heavy-duty Stranlok system was specified for the interior walls of the 1,600-square-foot area. One coat of Series 130 Envirofill, a waterborne cementitious acrylic block filler, was applied, followed by Series 201 Epoxoprime, a polyamine epoxy primer, at 6.0 mils DFT. Series 270 Stranlok, a highperformance, 100 percent solids epoxy, was spray-applied using a 45:1 ratio pump at 25.0 to 40.0 mils DFT. The system’s topcoat was Series 280 TnemeGlaze, a modified polyamine epoxy, applied at 8.0 to 10.0 mils DFT.

Series 222 Deco-Tread, a decorative broadcast quartz system, was applied at 1/8-inch thickness to the 1,000-square-foot flooring throughout the veterinary hospital. Series 284 Deco-Clear, a quartz-filled polyamine epoxy, provided a clear finish for the decorative flooring system, along with additional protection against impact and abrasion. A variation of 4-inch and 8-inch high rolled radius coves were also tied into the wall system, using Series 222 and Series 284.

“They really love the look and quality of the Deco-Tread,” said Cerutti. “And it really looks great in their facility.”
